KIDSMART PLEDGE

I can do something about being bullied.
I do not have to be a victim.
I do not have to fight.
I can use my brain instead of my brawn.
My mind is a better weapon than my fist or feet.
THE STUDENT PLEDGE
-
I will develop myself in a positive manner and avoid anything that could reduce my mental growth and physical health.
-
I will develop self-discipline in order to bring out the best in myself and others.
-
I will use common sense before self-defense and never be abusive or offensive.
-
WE ARE MOTIVATED! WE ARE DEDICATED!
-
WE ARE ON A QUEST TO BE OUR BEST!
The following set of principles hangs in Hanshi Shugoro Nakazato’s dojo in Okinawa:
MORALITY OF KARATE
-
The ideal of karate is to “cultivate noble character and conduct and the virtues of modesty and courtesy.”
-
“No forestalling in karate.” Karate is a military art for self-defense to protect and preserve life, and never to attack others on your own initiative.
-
“Perseverance is the root of all conduct.” True patience lies in bearing the unbearable.
-
Put back your hands when you are full of fight and retract your fight when your hands itch to deal a blow.
-
“Softness is unity.” “Strength is unity”. The ultimate object of human beings should be coexistence and co-prosperity in “peace.”
-
Avoid fights and quarrels even when dared.
CODE OF CONDUCT
-
I will begin each day with a positive attitude
-
I will smile and have a friendly greeting for everyone, every day.
-
I will strive to always be honest.
-
I will use good manners and be respectful to others.
-
I will be compassionate towards others.
-
I will value cooperation more than competition against others.
-
I will take responsibility for my actions and not make excuses.
-
I will show respect for my own and others property.
-
I will always be on time and be prepared.
-
I will work towards my dreams and encourage others to follow their dreams.
