Lil' Dragons Karate Program (ages 4-7 yrs.)

 

 

Our Lil’ Dragons karate classes are specifically designed for 4-7 year olds to burn off some extra energy and learn some basic life skills that supports self-defense, co-ordination, safety, and discipline. 

 

The students wear a traditional karate uniform and come to class ready to participate and learn Martial Arts and much more!  Our curriculum allows the students to earn achievements in different areas, gain higer belt ranks, certificates of advancement, and skills badges, as they learn and grow more confident in martial arts, and other life skills.  

 

As students attain their four skill acheivement "stripes" in Martial Arts, Kata/Combination, Conditioning, and Memory Skills, they are then able to test and advance to the next belt rank.  They are required to test, just like the older karate students, to show that they know the techniques prior to advancing in rank.  They have 7 belt ranks that they can earn before receiving their Master Dragon belt, which is our Lil' Dragon Black Belt.  We have a time grid at the bottom of this page to explain the advancement process.  

 

When a Lil' Dragon meets the appropriate age, and/or level of ability, they are then able to move into the Junior Shorin-Ryu karate program and participate with training with the 8 year olds and older. Depending on their level of belt in the Lil' Dragon program, they may be able to enter the Junior/Adult program with additional rank.    

 

We don't just cover Martial Arts with our Lil' Dragons, we also have a badge program that supports teaching of Life Skills and Safety Skills, that includes patches for discipline, cooperation, teamwork, balance, memory, listening, respect, fire, first aid, traffic, weather, stranger awareness and more. We go over measures on how to keep safe and what to do in an emergency, while also having them memorize steps to take in case of an emergency.  These badges are awarded to the students as they complete the requirements of each badge skill level.  These are great fun to receive and the students enjoy the additional recognition of having these badges added to their karate uniform!

 

At Impact Martial Arts we really put a lot of time and positive energy into keeping our curriculum for these students fun and fresh.   We are never quite sure who likes the program better, the students, the teachers, or the parents!
