Dojo Rules

SIGN-IN SHEET

When attending a class, all students must sign in on the sign-in sheet.  This enables us to keep track of the student’s hours needed for advancement.  Signing in is also designed to help teach responsibility for their actions.  Dates that are not signed in for on the day of the class attended may not be added later.

VIEWING CLASSES

Parents are encouraged to watch classes.  Student’s family members, friends, and guests interested in Karate are also welcome in our school.  We only ask that you respect the class by remaining quiet and, if you are bringing younger children with you, that you keep them in the designated seating area,  quiet, and under control.

PARENTS OF YOUNGER STUDENTS

Parents dropping off their children should do so no more than ten minutes prior to the beginning of the class, and pick them up within ten minutes of the end of class.  The school becomes very busy around class times and we cannot be responsible for watching unattended children.  If, however, it is necessary to leave a child for a longer period to enable the child to attend a class, the situation should be mentioned to the instructors and he/she should come with homework to do, a book to read, or be prepared to train while he or she is waiting.

**This does not include the Tiger Tots or Lil’ Dragon students, these children must be attended by an adult for the periods before and after class.  During class time, the parents of the Lil’ Dragons may leave and return to pick up their students at least 10 minutes prior to class ending. Parents of Tiger Tots are highly recommended to stay during the entire time that their child is participating in class.

CHILDREN USING THE BATHROOM

Children going into the office area to use the bathroom facilities should be accompanied by an adult and should never enter the office alone.  This includes any students that are under the age of 8, as well as anyone that is visiting and/or waiting for class to end.  There is no reason for a student or adult to go into the office unless to make a payment or use the bathroom.

We also discourage any children playing in the office unsupervised. If a sibling or student is found in the office unsupervised, they will be asked to leave the area and parents will be informed on the offense. Anyone going into the office to use the bathroom, or waiting to use the bathroom, should not touch any of the office equipment, or sit behind any of the desks. There are chairs available to sit and chairs can be pulled away from desks if needed. The office is a place of business and has confidential information at the desks and it should be respected.  It is deemed inappropriate behavior for anyone entering the office area to search through the desks, and if found, will be asked to discontinue training, due to lack of respect and trust in that individual.

FOOD AND DRINKS

Students are welcome to bring in beverages (with lids) for before and after class.  Drinking water is always available.  Please confine any food to the lounge area.  No food or drinks are allowed on the training floor, we ask that you put closed drinks on a shelf, or out of the way so that the item does not interfere with the safety of movement that is happening in class.

LOST AND FOUND

If you bring something into the training facility (dojo), we are not responsible for this property.  We ask that you help us keep the facilities clean and welcoming by discarding unneeded items and taking home those things that you brought with you.  If you have left something behind, our school will put these things in a common area for pick up.  Please let us know of any missing items and we will try to help you locate them.  However, all items are held for no longer than 2 weeks before they are discarded.  Personal items, such as mouth guards, could be discarded sooner due to health reasons.  If you have left an item behind, and cannot find it, or it was not retrieved by our instructors, Impact Martial Arts is not responsible for replacing lost or damaged items.

EXTRA HELP

Extra help is offered to students who have attended their regular 2 classes per week but still need assistance to master the techniques.  If, for any reason, you fall behind and need extra help, please see your instructor.  Achieving goals at Impact Martial Arts is one of the most vital instruments used in building our students confidence.  Our instructors are always willing to offer extra help to students by appointment or before or after scheduled classes to help them achieve their goals.  If you would like personal one-on-one training, please call our office and we will work out those personal times.
